That isn't easy - since some birds even within a species have larger heads than others; or they are on the lower or upper range of their species' weight. If your bird is out of normal range - NO WORRIES! If the harness we sent you doesn't fit your pet, we will send you one that will. We provide HASSLE FREE / NO COST replacements.

This item solved challenges of other harnesses: no more pulling wings through loops (which birds hate), easy and intuitive installation of the harness (without a steep learning curve). Note: birds still need to be slowly introduced and HARNESS TRAINED! Please follow instructions. The harness is fitted over the neck; the abdomen belt closes up on the back. A D-Ring (for the leash) automatically slides from the front to the back as a bird is moving around eliminating SUDDEN IMPACT

The heavy-duty faux leather vest has a comfortable Cotton Fleece backing. Unlike nearly all faux leathers, this material breathes just like genuine leather; it feels like leather, and is easy to maintain (simply wipe to clean). The vest disperses the pressure over a larger area of his body, which puts less pressure on a bird's delicate chest bones.

Leash: The light, yet strong elastic cord can stretch up to TWICE its length. A Frustration-free Leash Handle helps avoid entanglement of the bird leash.

Love the color, and the material is durable enough to feel secure but is soft on the side next to the body. It was a little challenging to put on my b&g, but I'm sure it will be easier with practice. Only suggestions would be for an actual buckle since there are holes punched out on the belt it woukd make it more secure, and for a swivel clasp on the belly instead of the back possibly to attach the leash. Other than wishing I got it personalized, I love it!I bought this harness because I also own the Aviator harness and this one is much easier to put on my parrot. It doesn't require you to pull wings through. My only complaint is that the leash connector came with a quick link which I don't feel is very secure for a macaw.I bought a harness for a yellow naped mini Macaw snd ordered too large. The seller was very helpful to suggest the correct size (7) and shipped it to me immediately. The harness is a perfect fit and is very soft on the inside to protect the bird.Great!!! I put it right on Bo, my 17 year old green wing macaw. It is easy to use. I just hope it holds up to his mischievous temperament. He loves to go hiking and camping with us!
