We got the Large for our elderly 56-lb pit bull. It looked cool, but probably the best part is the handle on the back. She has arthritis so sometimes she sways, wobbles, and just loses her balance so the handle made it easier to hold her up and keep her steady. It was also so helpful when getting her in and out of the car because we need to lift her. I highly recommend for that reason. However, one star was deducted because it is not easy to put in, and because she was so uncomfortable in it.Ideally, we'd keep a comfortable, lightweight harness on her most of the time just for convenience (we wake her up every 4-5 hours to potty since she doesn't quite know how to ask) but it wasn't an option with this one. We would especially have loved to keep this one on her because it's not exactly quick and easy to put on. It's sturdy, yes, but also very firm with not very much give. She actually couldn't handle this harness on a car ride; since she has bad legs she NEEDS to sit/lie down frequently, but the harness had her standing in pain for an entire ride, because the harness was so uncomfortable to lie down in. I had to pull over and take it off so she could rest. I get that it's "tactical" and not exactly meant for comfort - but I do wish there was more give or had a softer material to line it. Additionally, and this might just be the way she's built, the back of it lifted so high up. It fit really well in the front, but for some reason, it lifted. See the photo of her next to a tree with my review.Despite it not working with my dog, I would still recommend it for service dogs, dogs that frequent the park, or dogs that go with their humans on adventures of all kinds as it will definitely hold up to the task at hand. The velcro gives you a canvas to put any kind of patches you want so you can make it look cool and custom! Really wish we could've done that.My K-9 is a Patrol Dog for Security. We are out at night, in all kinds of weatherand it can dirty out. Mud, Water, Scrapes, concrete, nothing seems to faze this vest! It's easily seen (We have the grey reflective). It fits exactly as the measurement listdescribed for my dog who is a Black and Tan Coonhound Shepherd mix. 65-70 pounds and she tookthe Large version. It's strong buckles, comfortable fit, adjusts easily and the velcro areas are large forany patch you need. 7.5 inches X 3 inches on the sides, 3X4 inches on the front. And one on the backthat covers full length. I love the metal buckles on the front and the plastic side ones are easy to take offand on. For a working Law Enforcement type of dog this is not a bad option for the money spent. There are leather options out there that probably more expensive but I'd gladly show off this at any eventand feel comfortable I'd come out ahead compared to the other handlers. With all the "cheap" choices out there? THIS is one you want.I was looking for a quality Harness for my 70lb GSD. I had purchased a slightly cheaper one from a competitor and when I received it I was stunned by how cheaply it was made and the two rings where a person attaches the leash are made out of plastic!!! I quickly sent it back and closely read the listing for this harness. AS an Engineer I was stunned by the quality and how well it was engineered. I wanted a harness to attach to the seat belt buckle for travel. I wanted a harness that would keep my dog restrained and safe in a car crash which can happen when you least expect it! My dog is 70lbs which is one "G Force" A severe car crash can cause maybe a "G Force of five! That means the stress on the harness will be 350lbs. 70lbs times five = 350 equivalent pounds of force! This harness is rated or tested to 1000lbs which gives a great safety margin for our dogs. The "Cheapo" harnesses will rip apart or snap the plastic ring for leash attachment probably with a low speed crash. With a medium or high speed crash you dog will become a missile and either take you head off and or crash thru a side window or the windshield . I have "high expectations" and it's very seldom a "good sounding" listed product meets them when you actually get them in your hands! This harness actually EXCEEDS MY EXPECTATIONS for safety & quality. I will totally trust this harness with my GSD.Look at the hundreds of harnesses for sale at Amazon, but you would be foolish not to buy this one! I bought the one with "reflective stitching" which is "stunningly beautiful" at night. I can't believe they don't charge more for this feature. I usually don't write reviews, especially long ones. However this is a product that "under promises and over delivers" and therefore was worth my time consuming "two finger" typing of this review. They have a very large selection of colors and be sure to get the reflective stitching model. So, I travel w my GSD’S. Wanted a vest w a grab handle/Velcro like Ray Allen K9 sells but since we aren’t dropping from helo’s I couldn’t justify the cost.Needed it for signage “do not pet” etc. Bc ppl are not the sharpest and will walk up to your BARKING dog! So, got this as a vest for that reason AND the grab handle.I do NOT hook my lead to the clip ring. It seems sturdy as do the plastic AND metal buckles BUT, I think my kids could slip out backwards if they really wanted too. I use a Sprenger prong on one pup and a Halti on the other. The Ray Allen model is different- totally mad workmanship/quality & has to be suitable for lead attachment & security bc the k9 officers use them all the time.Anyway I’ll probably buy another one for 2nd GSD. My male LOVES wearing it thinks he has a job lol.Female likes it too…she’s more cat like though and “can’t be bothered” to put it on all the time lol.The patches I bought separately are REFLECTIVE. Got them: In training and do NOT pet oh n AMERICAN flag w paw ???!Enjoy!First of all I want to make it clear that I returned this harness. It is really well made and good quality but, in my opinion, has a serious design flaw. The buckles are way too heavy. I'd say of the total weight of the harness the buckles made up close to 50% of it. I tried it on my dog and it was a little too big but that helped me to visualise where the weight of the buckles would be transferred. If you want your dog to work harder on their walks I would recommend this harness, otherwise I would not!!!Dog appears to find it comfortable actually stands still to get his "coat" on. Bit fiddly to adjust and needs regular tightening as he's a puller but so far so good.Ordered Icefang no - pull harness in medium and in ranger green. Order arrived within specified time frame. Order wrong colour, expecting green, received black. Item picture had two metal bars bracteting the strap on the no - pull D-ring, preventing rotation. Received a harness that had no second bar this allowing full rotation. No braning on any of the straps. Had the Harness under 2 weeks ans the harness is fraying and stiches are pulling. Applied for return.Really disappointed that I searched for a strong harness with metal clasps/buckles and the from two are but the side ones aren’t. I find plastic ones wear out a lot faster from the constant use and would have been prepared to pay the extra for a better quality item. The material seems strong and the front buckles are fine, but the side ones don’t always opened as they should because they are plastic so when you push in the sides they are more inclined to get stuck.been looking forward to buying an icefang for a year now! finally bit the bullet and i don’t regret it.harness could come with a different handle (i just don’t like it). adjustability is great. little leeway on the smaller end. had to fiddle with the straps and will need more adjustments before we begin proper use. great patch room and feels sturdy!
